angel biscuits

5 c. unsifted flour
1/4 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 c. shortening
1 pkg dry yeast
2 Tbsp. warm water
2 c. buttermilk

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening
Dissolve yeast in warm water and add with 
buttermilk to dry mixture. (Make a well in dry 
ingredients before adding the buttermilk mixture.) 
Mix well. Turn out on lightly floured board, adding
more flour if necessary, and roll 1/4 inch thick. 
Cut, then dip in melted butter and fold to make 
pocketbook rolls. Place on greased baking sheet. 
Bake at 400f for about 15 minutes. Dough will keep 
in refrigerator tightly covered for at least a week. © 2001-2007
