old fashioned corn bread

2 cups yellow corn meal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons baking powder
2 eggs 
1 cup cream style corn
1  teaspoons salt (to taste )
1/2 cup bacon fat +1 tablespoon
Milk

Mix all ingredients together until well blended. Add enough milk to bake
the mixture pour easy.   pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.
Put a tablespoon of bacon fat in a black iron skillet and heat on top of
stove. When hot remove from burner and pour in the batter. Put in oven
and bake until golden brown. Approx. 30 to 40 minutes.     Serve with
butter and pure cane syrup. A good dollop of clabber mixed with the syrup
is delicious.
